LSH: Questions: Upcoming hysterectomy with Estrogen only HRT (endo, age 28)

Hello all, I am 28 yrs old and will be having a total hysterectomy this summer due to endometriosis, adhesions, and my body's very unusual reaction to progesterone. I have had Lupron for 4 months now and when it starts to wear off I end up having 8-15 bowel movements per day (which was even worse before I started the medicine). I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me (I have twin 3 year olds at home too)? Also wondering if anyone knows what I should expect with Estrogen only HRT? Already "started menopause" but not sure if that will continue after the hysterectomy and HRT. Thanks for any replies!!!

I had a TAH BSO at age 46, and for me surgical menopause was MISERABLE. I went on HRT (oral bio-identical estrogen) and it gave me my life back. It relieved my menopause symptoms. And the doctor told me it was much better for my health to be on HRT, than not on it.

You are much younger than me, and it sounds as if you will be on HRT. Keep in mind that it can take time to get the right balance so let your doctor know how you are feeling. He or she may need to adjust the dosage.

You will need help with your little ones during your recovery. Here is an article that may help: Recovering from Hysterectomy with Small Children. You will also need help at home with cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, shopping, driving, etc. Hopefully you can have family or friends help you.
