LAVH with bladder surgery?

Hi Sisters,
I'm scheduled for a LAVH w/bladder suspension with the mesh thing on 04 September. I was reading earlier posts and am trying to get an idea of how long most of you who had both procedures had to use a catheter and/or had bladder problems. It seems to me that this bladder surgery is much more complicated recovery-wise than the LAVH. Jeesh! I have something important planned 25 days after surgery and I'm hoping I can go without dragging a cath along and wearing big baggy clothing! He said 2 weeks but ya never know! BTW, I'm getting mine done in Rochester <Hospital name removed for safety and privacy>. Anyone else?

Jackie

LAVH with bladder surgery?

Me too!

Mine is scheduled for Sept 26th. My Dr. says 6 weeks, but I've read so many horror stories that I'm a bit concerned. I'm having my surgery in Oregon at <Hospital name removed for safety and privacy>

Hi, Jackie! I had a LAVH-BSO with the bladder sling on August 6th. I had the catheter removed the morning after surgery, but then had to have it re-inserted because I couldn't pee! I went home with it, and removed it 3 days later. I can pee, but it is weird. I pee most of it out, but then I sit there and wait for the rest of it to come out. But I am emptying my bladder, so my urologist is not concerned. My gyno told me today that the bladder takes 3-4 months to be completely back to "normal" after what I had to have done. Hopefully you won't have the extensive work I had to have done (I had NO pelvic support, so needed a total pelvic floor reconstruction). I hope this helps you. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

I had a radical LAVH, but no bladder repair. I had my catheter for 2 weeks. Good luck!!
