yeast infection

I have a question. I am almost 4 weeks post op. I had TAH/BO on 2/14. I have been doing great however I feel like I have a vaginal yeast infection. I can not understand this since I have put anything in the vagina. I have the slight discharge and the itch. I don't want to use an over the counter cream without consulting with my Dr. I guess I will probably call the Dr. in the morning. Has anyone else had this happen after your hysterectomy? Thanks, Tiff

yeast infection

Hi Tifferin,
I didn't get a yeast infection but if you click on search and type in yeast infection you will read about other women that have. I hope you can get it taken care of. Also, I am glad that you are going to talk to your dr. before you use any cream because he might have some other ideas.

yeast infection

I have read where when the estrogen levels drop drastically that it can cause yeast infections. Amazing isn't it? Keep us posted. You are helping a lot of women that have experienced the same thing but are too embarrassed to ask.

I did too.

Tifferin, we had surgery the same day.

I got a yeast infection my second week, and my PCP called in a single-dose pill that took care of it wonderfully. Other women here have mentioned the name of the drug, which slips my mind, but your doctor will surely know.

Sometimes this happens from body chemistry. It's not a result of putting anything where we shouldn't - I haven't either!

Best wishes,
Holly

yeast infection

hi there. the name of the med is diflucan. be careful though, it could also be vaginosis. yeast infections can be caused by the antibiotics that are given during surgery, or taken after surgery. these kill the good bacteria, as well as the bad. i have had both, and they feel very similar. your doctor can know for sure. good luck to you!

yeast infection

Hey, This happened to me also, and the doctor prescribed Diflucan, which is a single dose pill that takes care of the yeast infection. They don't want you using those creams while you are healing. Hope this helps. Emily

yeast infection

I also got a yeast infection after my hyst. I used to get them chronically and Diflucan doesn't work for me...hardly anything worked for me. But my MIL suggested this herbal remedy she got at Wal-mart called Acidophillus...and OMG! it works great!!! It helps to balance the bacteria in all that stuff down there and boy does it work fast!!! And it was a godsend after my hyst. since nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks kinda knocks out the Monistat options. So you may wanna try it. Good luck to a quick recovery!!!

yeast infection

I just got through using Metrogel for 5 days for vaginitis and woke up this morning with a yeast infection (i think). UGH - I am so weary. On top of that I have to have an endoscopy tomorrow - not related to hyst, but maybe an ulcer - DOUBLE UGH. I am dreading it and so SICK of seeing doctors and hospitals. just wish i could go back to bed and hide for a month. I feel so bloated and crampy, back is hurting and overall, just plain YUCK. I'd had sex once 3 weeks ago - big whoop - so these problems are not caused by having too much fun, that's for sure. sorry to be babbling - this day is just not starting out good for me.......
