5 days post op & doing great!

Hi again ladies, well, I survived!!!! Had surgery on 4/6/09. Went in for a TAH but they were able to save my ovaries so I'm not sure what it's called now except OVER!!! It wasn't nearly so horrible as what I had built up in my mind. Even when they were taking me from post-op to my room over, what I would have sworn at that time, ditches and ruts feet deep and when I got to my room my meds weren't there. This is a brand new hospital, only open a month, and somehow my pain meds went to another floor but my Florence Nightingale nurse went and got them herself as opposed to waiting for a courier. Once I got the meds I felt much better. I am a liar - I didn't feel anything for a while. I was sitting on the side of the bed that night and walking the next morning. I was released Thursday afternoon from the castle and am doing well at home. The only exception is that my 5 cats want to climb all over me. They are so used to being our "babies" and are all lap cats - the one place they simply cannot be. I feel badly shooing them away, they can't possibly understand why "mommy" doesn't want to hold them, but the idea of their little paws on my tummy -well, we won't go there.
Just wanted to drop in and say "hi" and thank you all once again for your help and support. I honestly think that this would have been so much harder without you!
I placed a post in the pre-op forum,too. Just a few extra hints that I picked up. Really is good to have "graduated" to post-op forum.

Congratulations on a safe surgery & welcome to post op :-)

You just had a TAH (without the BSO) and you seem to be doing great so far. Just remember to keep a pillow on your knee at all times just in case one of those babies leap up when you are not expecting it.
