Support for your belly?

Just logged on to the site and thought i would ask if any of you have found something to wear around the belly to provide some additional support. My abdominal hysterectomy was on 12/7, still have the little tape on the stitches.. have the big undies on but I feel like if something was holding in my stomach more everything might feel a little better... haven't looked around on the site yet but will be doing that after I submit my question. Thank you!

Re: Support for your belly?

First off, welcome to the site! It is a great place to be before and after your hystectomy.

I had a TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy) 11 weeks ago. I didnt use anything for support because even my regular underwear pressing up against it hurt for me but I know some women have used the swelly belly bands (I think that is what they are called) and have had great sucess with them. I am not sure where the information is on this site but maybe another member can help you find it. For me I used a small pillow (like the ones you get on an airplane) and held it against my stomach when I would stand up, sit down or when I was in a car. It helped a lot to put it between my stomach and the seatbelt so that if the seatbelt tightened it wouldnt press too hard on my stomach.

I wish I could be of more help. How is everything else going for you? Feel free to post any questions you have or concerns...the ladies here are a HUGE help in answering questions or listening to vents when you feel the need to unload on someone and we all know how it feels right after surgery.

Re: Support for your belly?

I actually got my Swelly Belly Band IN the hospital right after the op last Wednesday. In fact, when I first woke up, it was already on me. I haven't had it off in a whole week and I don't intend to. I would feel very, very loose and sore without it.
I recommend it 110%, really.
