my doctor won't see me!!!

I call my doctor telling her i have pain and she tells me to go to the er. It's not excruciating pain but i want to know why? She tells me to go to hospital er so I get a catscan. Is this normal? Please help! I want to avoid this.she just won't see me.

I don't know - is that standard procedure to get a CAT scan? Maybe that's the fastest way for you to get one? Seems odd to me too, but maybe there is some logic behind it.

Couldn't she just have ordered a CT and sent you to hospital outpatient imaging, or a stand-alone imaging center? Just seems like a waste of ER visit/resources.

Feel like a bad bladder infection with a feeling like I'm being pinched inside as well. I think it's s waste too, but they say it's the fastest way.
What I think there's a bit of a disconnect. There not understanding what I saying. I just want to know what the cause off this pain is. If it's normal or not. If it's normal I can live with it and know that it will eventually go away. I believe they think I want something to relieve the pain and that's not what I'm looking for. She just won't hear me out. I am going to ER in the morning. I feel ridiculous but will go on her orders. I will explain this to the ER doctor. Ugh!

In addition, I forgot to say I did find out I don't have a bladder infection.

It seems an inefficient way to get a CT, plus, tests can't totally replace an actual exam. It sounds very frustrating. I hope you have a short wait in ER, and get some answers. Let us know how it goes.

As a healthcare provider, if you aren't having UTI symptoms but are having consistent pain, a CT is the imaging study of choice post abdominal surgery. Given the holidays, outpatient facilities are limited. Let us know how the CT goes. Hope you feel better.
