Nervous about Bowel Injury (issues with Diverticulitis)

I am a little nervous about the potential for a bowel injury. I had plans to have this surgery 2 months ago but I had a bout of Diverticulitis and my doctor said we needed to wait a couple months to allow me to heal. Talk about a miserable time that was! My doctor said it increased my chances for a bowel injury, Lovely...has anyone else dealt with this?

Re: Nervous about Bowel Injury

My dear have you looked at the possibility that it is endometriosis rather than diverticulitis that has been plaguing you? I just had 7 inches of my colon resected and removed due to endometriosis that they had first thought my be diverticulitis. Might be worth looking into

Hi gdbye2myUT to HysterSisters!

I wish I could answer your question, but I cannot. We do have lots of women on this site. Hopefully more women with experience with diverticulitis will see this post and respond.

Re: Nervous about Bowel Injury (issues with Diverticulitis)

gdbye,
I have had some issues with IBS and diverticuli (not yet diverticulitis). I do understand your concern, but it sounds like your doctor is very cautious and aware of the risk. Talk to him about your concern, maybe he could give you some more information.

Good advice...thank you! 777endochick...I am sorry to hear about what you are dealing with. That is what I was wondering about...if my symptoms might be related.
