6 weeks post hysterectomy & BSO: Crawly skin?

I'm 6 weeks post op and I have this awful feeling like ants or something crawling all over my skin mainly arms and legs but also head, ( I probably sound crazy) but I'm not actually itchy but I scratch whenever I get this feeling that something is crawling on me and wake up through the night with blood everywhere from scratching while I'm asleep an I have sores from scratching, the dr gave me cortisone cream to use which stops the redness an inflammation where I've scratched and just told me to stop scratching:/ does anyone else feel like this or am I just going mad

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy & BSO: Crawly skin?

Hi Jatz! While I haven't experienced this, you have mentioned that you had a BSO. In reading through this HS Surgical Menopause article, it appears that if your hormones are off this can cause the itchy crawly skin that you mentioned. Have you spoken to your doctor about HRT? If not you may want to consider speaking to your doctor about it. You can also read through threads in the Hormone Issues forums.

I hope you are able to figure out where this is itching is coming from.

Thank you for the link I'm finding it very hard to navigate through this site, and it was very helpful (at least I know I'm not totally crazy lol) doctor won't put me on HRT yet until we sort out some other medical issues and then can look into how we go about managing hormones

I get like that with some medications, especially narcotics. Antibiotics can do it to me as well. Creams don't work well for me in those instances because it's not really a skin issue at all, it's a nervous system response I'm having to a med. I hope you can get it figured out soon, I know it's horrible.
