Life is falling apart....help!
I am due to go into the castle on August 14 - next week. 3 weeks ago my eldest son was rushed to hospital with a life threatening condition, 5 days later my mother was rushed in with a broken leg and suspected cancer.... and to crown it all last weekend my fiance decided he did not want to commit to our relationship.
I feel so numb....the whole hysterectomy scenario is one thing to cope with but it feels like my whole life has collapsed at once.
Has anyone else gone through anything like this? How did they get through? Should I cancel my surgery?
Any support I might have had seems to have gone and I feel depressed even before I get there. I am really scared that when my hormones kick in after the TAH/BSO I will go to pieces. Can anyone give me some words of encouragement?

I don`t think you should cancel your op because this is your chance of a better life. The timing for your mom and your son is not ideal but you will need the surgery anyway at some point, and as for your partner say GOOD RIDDANCE. It is a lot to have on your plate at one time, but i pressume you have been having problems to be having the surgery in the first place so you have to put yourself FIRST.

Life is falling apart....help!
Dear angelofthenorth,
I'm so very sorry that all of this is happening right now. Of course it seems overwhelming. I don't know your SO, of course, but it is possible that he is frightened, and that this is his way of dealing with his fear? Some men turn away because they don't know how to deal with their fear, and so they shut things out. I've seen it happen many times since I've been a member here at HS.
In your earlier posts you mentioned that you were going to be alone after your surgery, since you live alone and your SO lived 300 miles from you, so as far as whether you'll be able to take care of yourself, physically, that really hasn't changed. But only you can tell whether you're emotionally ready to go through surgery at this time. Unless your hyst is being done for a life-threatening reason, if you don't feel ready, then you might want to talk to your doctor about postponing until you do feel more emotionally ready.
Have you talked to your doctor about your being alone post-op? Maybe he can arrange for a visiting nurse, or home health aide to be on call. Do you have a church family that you can call on for help?
Your son and mother will be in my prayers, as you are. Please let us know how you are and what you decide to do.

Life is falling apart....help!
angel...i can relate!...my life feels like a bad episode of General Hospital!....both my kids had surgery this year, my mother is in very bad health, my blood pressure shoots up at the doctors, i am being treated for panic/anxiety...etc etc etc....my first appt to discuss the hysterectomy issue isnt until the 14th....so i have a long road ahead..and many issues to deal with...........some days you think you cant go on.....i just KNOW that God is in control, even when all the evidence suggests otherwise, i know He has a perfect plan, even for me!, who has failed Him many times......there is a reason for everything that happens, even the bad things.......when i am too tired and worried and depressed to hold onto God, i know He is holding on to me....God bless

((((angelofthenorth))))
This is a hard time in your life- you are strong and you will get through this. Please consider your health.... without good health, you may not be able to take care of your mother and ds. Take care- you will be in my prayers!
