Painful bowels 5days post-op

I never realised how painful bowel movements could be, on the point of screaming each time I go. Feel like I don't want to eat as I know I will need to go shortly afterward. The stool softener helps but I was wondering when I might expect it to get better?

I'm so sorry you are in such pain. I also had issues with bowels at about 5-6 days. It may be a good idea to call your doc...he/she may prescribe something other than just stool softeners. When will it get better? Mine was all better by 1.5 weeks after, with just a few minor issues since then(I am 3 weeks post). For me, it was hard to 'relax' on the toilet, due to 'repair work' that was done, 'down there', during my surgery, and I think that's pretty common, as with any constipation that may come and go for a while. I also tried Miralax(I figured if it was good/gentle enough for my 3 yr old, its good enough for me. lol) and it helped ALOT, but be sure to ask your doc before using anything.
