When can I take a bath?

I just want a nice long hot bubble bath. I'm 4 weeks post-op. When can I go for it?

Thanks!

Re: When can I take a bath?

I had my 6 week checkup today (TAH/BSO). I'm so excited, she released me and so I can take a bath, start back to running and anything I want to. WOOHOO!

Re: When can I take a bath?

I was released for a bath at two weeks. Every doctor is different. I would definitely ask about it.

Re: When can I take a bath?

Typically, the rule is no bathing for six weeks for most hysterectomy types. However, each doctor does give his/her own instructions so it doesn't hurt to check! Keep in mind, even if bathing is okay earlier during recovery, double check as to whether or not a bubble bath is okay or not.

Because I missed bathing so much (and I wasn't released to bath for 3 months), I would sit on a stool in the shower and pretty much use all of the hot water up as I let it cascade over me!

Yes, you need to check with your doc. Each one is different. I know. I loves me my bubble baths. ;-) Oh, and make sure you ask you doc. if the bubbly part is okay too.

Re: When can I take a bath?

I'm 4 weeks today and was cleared for a bath.... I think it depends on how the cuff is healing, or that's what my doctor said......I had a TAH...

Re: When can I take a bath?

My doctor said OK to baths after 2 weeks but cautioned me about getting out of the tub...she was right, it was ackward and hard to 'pull myself out.' It's back to the shower for me for a few weeks!

Re: When can I take a bath?

If you have a vaginal cuff they are worried about you getting an infection so make sure your doctor has cleared you for a bath.
