Kept Ovaries, where do the eggs go?

I am 16 days post op, today experiencing a little spotting and it would be my normal cycle time, when I had normal periods long ago...
It got me thinking, is the spotting normal? Also I know once you have the hysterectomy, you no longer have periods so why am I spotting and where, since I kept my ovaries, do the eggs go?

I've wondered that, too! Do they just float around for a while then get absorbed? And where is the blood coming from if there's no uterus or cervix?

My GYN told me the eggs just get re-absorbed by the body. Also, depending on the type of hysterectomy you had, the spotting comes from the vaginal cuff as it heals.

The eggs will just get absorbed into your body after ovulation, and mild spotting is a normal part of healing. I spotted for about 6 weeks post-op. If this is the first time you are spotting, it may be associated with dissolving stitches, or you may have just overdid it with activity.

The rule of thumb is this...if you are filling enough to fill a pad within an hour, call the or head to the ER.
