TAH Monday 11/13 - back home TODAY 11/15 :)

Hey Ladies!! Notes from another Princess/Sistah that made it through on this past Monday - with well-wishes for you and saying YOU can do it too!!

I, like most of you, was suffering some apprehension before the surgery, but I'm here to tell ya, I don't remember a cotton-picking thing from my pre-op meeting with the anaesthesiologist (wait.....I do remember that he had a cute butt.....but I digress )to getting back in my room after it was aaaall over with. You won't believe how gooooood those ice chips taste afterwards!! The 'mass' turned out to be my left ovary going completely bananas - it was the size of 2 grapefruit - but it's gone now, along with uterus and cervix. I got to keep my right ovary. Doc said the pathology tests won't be back until around the time I get the staples out on the 28th, but in her professional opinion, all is well and good. She didn't take any lymph nodes.

I didn't see the incision until today when Dr. She removed the dressing before my coming home. HoooEEEE!!! Just call me "Frankenbelly"!! LOL It's a vertical incision 10 inches long with 28 shiny staples. God bless the belly pillow (it WILL be your friend too) - take it with you when you walk your laps in the hallways and just let it become part of you for those little surprise coughs that come up.

One thing I would add for you pre-op sisters......check ahead of time to see what the difference in cost is between what your insurance will pay for a semi-private room and a private one. I found out before I went to loopy land that it was only $30, so I asked for a private room. WELL worth the price out of pocket for the added privacy and rest-up time. I didn't get it, as the hospital was full to the brim. I'll be posting a bigger info thread in the "hys-tory" section later - to include the horror story of my roommate from hades.

All in all, it wasn't that big a deal, the wait honestly really truly is the hardest part and you'll do FINE!!

Time for a shower and more rest-up. to all my sisters!
