No spotting until day 9?!?!

I had TLH w/ cervix removed on 4/28. Spotted very little on the 28th and absolutely nothing since then. Woke up this morning- post op day 9 - and started spotting. I did quite a bit yesterday - hair appt, kindergarden program & a short walk. Is that too much?? What does this spotting mean? Have I damaged internal stitches? I'm just worried also....people are discussing stitches being removed - my MD made no mention of removing stitches. They are healing well but wondering if they come out on their own? I have a 3 week post-op appt w/ MD. Sooooooo I guess my ? Is: anyone else not spot AT ALL then start as late as day 9?

Re: No spotting until day 9?!?!

mschicken - i was almost identical to you - i spotted briefly right after my TH & BSO and then nothing until about day 10 or 12 - saw my doc on day 13 and she was not concerned - said if it was mini pad amount or lees it was normal to stop and start like that - to be concerned if it hit maxi pad amounts and then call her - i stopped by then and nothing since.

as for stitch removal - i am not an expert but i believe internal stitches are meant to dissolve on their own. occasionally dissolving stitches do not dissolve and need to be removed. i have also read on this site that occasionally stitches are passed when you go to bathroom but i have not experienced that myself. i also imagine that if the doc was planning in advance to remove some of your stitches it would be at least 2 weeks post surgery - when is your next follow-up?

Re: No spotting until day 9?!?!

Follow up is on the 20th. The external stitches just gross me out. The incisions are totally healthy, but the "thread" used to stitch me up is pretty thick. Ewe

Re: No spotting until day 9?!?!

mschicken - i am sorry - i did not realize you also had external stitches too - i didn't - only had glue externally - 3 weeks is not way out of line for stitch removal - i know they aren't pretty and if you start seeing draining, redness, or odor from them i would call the doc to be safe.
