pain at 3 Weeks

I'm still extremely sore and crampy. its almost as if I'm at a stand still in my recovery. I'm taking 800 ibu. And my doctor has me on one norco every 6 hours. Neither of which are helping me very much. I.have to take these along with an ambien and a visteril to even possibly get to sleep at night. I sleep in a heated Water bed. So I'm able to sleep on my stomach and the water bed acts as a heating pad. What else can I do or try? I have a bikini incision but I also have extra stomach fat so my stomach hangs over my incision. It looks fine. I keep it dry and generally keep a piece of gauze in the crease to keep it dry.

Re: pain at 3 Weeks

I'm also feelig a bit crampy, my tummy seems a bit sore to touch.
It's 3weeks and 2 days for me.
I'm hoping it's just the healing taking place. I've also got the skin overhang over my incision, not a good look, hopefully will go down with a bit of work.
I find a pillow between my legs when I lay on my side seems to help with the pulling sensations. My sleep has been a bit restless, feel hot during the night.
Try to remember to take it easy and let your body heal. I have decided to take the advice from the other sisters who have said we only get one chance to heal properly. Are you maybe doing too much?
Hope your pain subsides soon. xxx :-)

Re: pain at 3 Weeks

You might want to try not sleeping in the waterbed. I'm at almost 6 weeks post op now but at 3 weeks I was still in the recliner sleeping for the most part. Even with the warm heat you are still laying on your stomach putting pressure on it. I couldn't do that until this last week. Are you taking it easy during the day? As in not doing much except reading/watching TV. At that stage I found I had to rest 1-2 times a day (30-60 minutes) with my feet up or I was very uncomfortable by evening. Now if you're napping quite a bit during the day maybe that is not helping you sleep at night. I have the same type of incision and overweight too. The well overhang thing for me also got better in the last week or so. I was happy to realize there was still a lot of swelling going down right around 5 weeks for me. For me at least 3 weeks was the stage of right between feeling really pretty bad and feeling quite good again so hopefully in the next week you will feel better but take it easy.

Re: pain at 3 Weeks

I was still feeling that way at 4 weeks. Be patient, it gets better. It takes time to recover so keep taking your meds as needed and rest. Don't over do it around the house either. That will make the pain worse.Walk and rest, everything else can wait. You'll heal better in the long run if you pamper yourself now!

Re: pain at 3 Weeks

Trust me I'm not allowed to do anything but rest and walk around. I don't nap during the day unless I'm really really tired. Sleeping in the bed is better then the couch. The couch was killing my back. I don't full on sleep on my stomach. Not how I would before this surgery. Alot more pillows to keep me from putting pressure on my stomach. I just don't get why the pain is so bad after barely having any. Not compared to this atleast.

Re: pain at 3 Weeks

Although it may not seem like it, you are still very early in your recovery. At 3 weeks I was still in bed or on the couch all day doing nothing. I was taking Ibuprofen and a Norco in the evening to sleep. It was not until about 6 weeks that I was able to cut out the evening Norco and cut back on the Ibuprofen. Even at 8 weeks I was still very sore and crampy if I did too much. Be very patient with yourself as you heal. Take it very, very easy and get as much rest as possible. This will help. Try not to compare your recovery to anybody else's. We all heal very differently. I am over 13 weeks now, and other than fatigue and soreness on days I try to be superwoman, I feel pretty good.
Hugs to you!
