Total hysterectomy on 11-14

Good morning. I had a total on Friday. Feels a little dizzy and gas pains in the evening are really rough. Wondering if going back to work on 12-1 is pushing it.

I would not have been able to return to work that soon! Most women take off 6 weeks to allow for most of the aches and pains to wear off.

But some women do bounce back pretty fast.

I would say it depends on what kind of work you do. I work construction so my doctor refuses to release me until she knows I'm healed. A friend of mine went back after 2 weeks but she has a desk job that she can stand up and move around in or just sit if she need a to.

Total hysterectomy on 11-14

I had a total on the 13th and am scheduled to go back the same day. Right now I feel like it's a good amount of time and my Doctor agrees. We will see how I feel a week from now. I'm enjoying being lazy and letting my family take over for a while. I think I will be ready to go back to work by then. Just listen to your body and rest up. Hugs!

I would not have been able to return to my desk job either after 2 weeks. I work from home and didn't get back at it until 4 weeks and even then it was part-time. Sitting up that long would have been quite painful at 2 weeks and my ability to concentrate was nil. I don't believe I was outside the normal recovery range either.

Mary Lee, if you can take more time, do it!

Oh I hope you didn't take it like I was saying If you have a desk job it would be easier to return to work. My friends work is desk work but she has the ability to sit, stand, walk around, basically anything she need to do. She is one of those people that seemed to heal a lot quicker than most. Her only complaint was she tired easily still. No pain after 2 weeks would have been nice. I'm at 6 weeks today and I still get stubborn pains occasionally.

I am trying to figure out why my dr said two weeks. I keep reading not enough. I do have a desk job but this was a major surgery. Yes, three small incisions but I had a total and lots of endo which was also in my bowel and the cause of low back pain. Just going to see how the next week goes.

My surgery was done Lapo. They had to take may ovaries due to endo. I have had no bleeding but am so tired and focus seems impossible. I am supposed to work from home starting Friday. I am thinking I may have to change plans. Trouble is I have shoulder surgery scheduled for December 17th so need to work if I can.
I am not sure what all these initials on this site stand for. I know I had total with three small incisions on my tummy. Had endo including in my bowel and I guess towards my back causing my back pain. Plus told my uterus had cells or glands growing into the muscles. I want to get the most out of this great site.

Re: Total hysterectomy on 11-14

Just don't push it. Mine was the 14th too. I thought I was doing good Saturday I could get up out bed, walk around, and generally function with no problems. Monday I could no longer pre, and now I'm back in the hospital.
I'm not saying this will happen to you. Let your body tell you how it feels. If your tired or sore don't push it. It is so not worth being miserable.
