Feeling less than pretty....
I have uterine fibroids...three golfball size and one a bit larger than a grapefruit size...
People are telling me that my tummy/abdomen are 'bulging' because of the fibroids, but even if that is true, I just, well...it's hard to explain, but I don't feel very womanly right now. Like, I feel unattractive and chubby or something.
I think my emotions are out of whack or something. I don't feel attractive enough to "be" with my hubby. Hope this isn't too much T.M.I.
Anyhow, I must just be having a 'low' moment....anyone else?

Re: Feeling less than pretty....
Oh, sweetie
You have a lot going on right now related to your womanly parts--you have fibroids, you're feeling bulky and uncomfortable, and you're facing a major surgery. It's no surprise that you're feeling low.
It's normal, and it's something that plenty of us here have experienced. If you find that it continues to interfere with your life, including your intimate relationship with your husband, be sure to mention it to your doctor so you can be helped.

Re: Feeling less than pretty....
Hi -
I can understand how you feel. I've struggled with my self-image and self-esteem my whole life and during this crazy emotional time can certainly make it worse.
Have you talked with your husband about how you feel? I have been feeling down on and off since my LAVH (also done due to fibroids that were apparently the size of Cleveland) and my DH wanted to take me out for supper - I told him I didn't want him to have to be seen with me out in public because I didn't feel like doing my hair and putting on make up (which I haven't really done since before my surgery on 3/22) - and he looked at me so shocked and told me that I always look beautiful to him. So I bet that if you let your husband know how you're feeling, he won't feel that you are any less womanly or beautiful to him.
Take care and I'll keep you in my thoughts. (((( Hugs ))))

I know how you feel. I had the same thing. I am 7 weeks post op. Had tah. I feel better than ever and my big extended belly is gone. I did not realize how uncomfortable I was prior to surgery. Be positive and hang in there.

Be honest with your hubby. He can be reassuring to you, while being assured that you confide in him.

Re: Feeling less than pretty....
Yeah it does make you feel low, uncomfortable and not like your looks.
Its a huge situation your going through.
I always find it best to talk about how its making me feel, but we are all different.
But im sure if your family and friends were aware of how you are feeling they would give you that extra bit of TLC.
Hope this helps, good luck with surgery and recovery.
love and hugs.

Re: Feeling less than pretty....
Yes, your "bulging" belly is more than likely due to the fibroids..that's what my Dr. told me anyways..and said I can look forward to it being gone after surgery! (I hope so)...I look like I'm pregnant! I used to have a little bit of pooch that I could "suck in"..and heck, an industrial vacuum couldn't suck this big belly in now!! I hate it..can't even do my jeans up anymore!
That aside, I'm sure you're as beautiful to your hubby as you ever were; hormones have a way of wreaking havoc on our sane thoughts. ((hugs))

I have this feeling too What works best for me is some serious "ME" time. Hair, mani/pedi, new clothes etc. My tummy is so swollen right now too so what I've done is boughten cute tops that are flowy that way they aren't tight around the waist and are still fashionable Get some cute sandals too! You're still beautiful

Re: Feeling less than pretty....
Same here. I have tried really hard to make sure my BF is not forgotten. So if I'm having a moment of "not feeling like it" I offer him a "freebie". But I soon find myself caught up in the moment and we both get "over the mountain".
Haha, could I possibly come up with any more innuendos???
At any rate be kind to yourself it will be good sone on the other side.
All Gods Blessings to you!!!!
