Not sure my bowel prep is going as it should be.......

Ok, I drank my bottle of citrate of magnesia at 2:00 as instructed. It is now 3:30 and I've gone some, but not much at all, and not that get me to the bathroom NOW urgency. Am I just being impatient, or is what I expected not how it will be? I expected it to be like it was for my mom and dad when they had a colonoscopy. They were literally RUNNING to the bathroom every 3-4 minutes and Lord help anyone that was in their way! My tummy is gurgling and churning, but nothing much happening beyond that. I kinda expected things to start happening way before now. But perhaps I'll be finding out later to "be careful what you ask for" . How did it progress for you ladies? Similarly, or much more quickly? I'm really beginning to think something is wrong with me. I'm urinating a LOT more than I'm, well, you know what, lol. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Bowel prep

I did the same thing in March thinking that it would happen right away. It didn't for me but I ran back and forth out of the bathroom all day and night. Any food no matter how light it is will go right through you. Trust me.
Good luck with everything.

Your body's reaction is going to be affected by lots of factors.

How fast or slow your digestive tract usually functions.
Whether you were previously constipated before you took the treatment.
Whether or not you are well hydrated.
How long it's been since your previous BM.

The fact that there's gurgling going on means things are happening. It just may take a bit of time. Hope you didn't have plans to go see a movie this evening.

If you're on liquids for a while once you've done the bowel prep, you may find that things get flushed along pretty soon. (ohhhh.. sorry for that bad pun!)

Not sure my bowel prep is going as it should be.......

Hi RedSox Fan

I'm doing the same thing today.

I drank a 45 ml bottle of Fleet Phosphosoda at noon...about 1 hour later things started to happen.

Not too awful (never had to actually RUN, and no cramps or anything) but definitely had to go to the loo every 15 mins or so for a while. It's now 4 pm and things seem to have settled down. I sense there's a couple more visits in me yet today.

I am on clear liquids only so I imagine after a while there's nothing left to come out.

Am getting hungry though!

I asked my DH last night - do you think beer or white wine counts as a clear liquid? :-D

Well, it's now 4:15 (over 2 hours since I drank the bottle). I've gone once more in the last 45 minutes. I still feel like I need to go, but it just isn't moving. I've gone maybe 3 times in the past 2 hours. Does that sound about right? I guess I was expecting to be going a LOT more often. Normally, my system is VERY good at this part of being human, LOL. Maybe that's why I expected all this to happen so much more quickly than it has been. I really shouldn't be complaining that I'm not racing to the bathroom like it's a marathon. It's just that the way my tummy feels right now, I WANT to go more than I am. I'll try having more patience. ;-)

Sue

P.S. Surgery was scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning, I have to be at the castle by 6:15. Doesn't look like much sleep will be happening for me tonight. Oh well, plenty of time to catch up during the next couple of days.
