Hysterectomy tomorrow 1/25 - Mag citrate for bowel prep-

Hi all- my surgery is tomorrow- and I am having to do a bowel prep. I've never drank magnesium citrate before; I had to drink half bottle at 2pm and the other half at 4pm. It's been an hour and half since I drank the first half, and no results yet. Although I have been gassy, and my Bowles are definitely making lots of noise. Just wondering how long it takes this stuff to work-

Not long. I'm sure it's hot you by now. It starts slow and then . . . Yeah. It's no fun. Make sure you are hydrating. Drink, drink, drink to help move everything along and to prevent dehydration.

It might start shortly after you drink the 2nd half. I had mine all at once and it started pretty quickly after I finished it and the worst of it didn't last long, although I had only had liquids the day before too

Actually it hasn't hit yet. It's 5:17 pm here. I drank the last half at 4:00 pm. I had a good BM this morning, ate oatmeal and scrambled eggs for breakfast- and been on clear liquids since. So there may not be a lot to "clean out" I'm sure there's some- but probably not a tremendous amount. Lol
