New concern, oh my aching back

My son and I was involved in a car accident 19 years ago. I have since had major back trouble that makes me a regular at a local chiropractor. AT my preop, the hospital mentioned I may have back pain after surgery. I spoke with a woman that had surgery and she said she was put in a neck brace due to back problems. Any advice? I am use to back pain and think the morphine should treat any complications I might have.

My back ached a little after surgery, but I attributed it to the way I was carrying myself to accomodate my healing abdomen. I don't really remember it as being a bad pain. Talk to your Dr about this problem you have and let them decide if they need to compensate for you in some way during the surgery and/or recovery.

I had back surgery in 2001 and am all "fixed" but added back pain after this upcoming surgery might be attributable to how careful they are (or aren't...), getting us wiggled around after we're under anesthetics.... prior and after. I'd just mention to everyone as often as possible about your issues and perhaps they will be more gentle with you. Once we're "under" we can't get ourselves comfortable before the surgery, so if we're not laying "correctly" we'll be sore.
