2 weeks Pos op still have pain I had before surgery

Hi All,

I'm new here. I had a very large mass removed and subsequent hysterectomy leaving one ovary. Prior to surgery I was having very sharp stabbing pain on my right side, hip and into lower back on right side. Since my surgery the pain there remains, just more frequent now. the mass I had was the size of two grapefruits but long and it had pushed my uterus all the way to the right strangling my right ovary. it could be that everything is still recovering and of course my stomach is still quite swollen so it might just require things to settle down. I was just wondering if anyone experienced the same pain after surgery that you were having before?

Thank You,
Karen

Re: 2 weeks Pos op still have pain I had before surgery

HI Karen,

I experienced the same pain after surgery, but actually it was worse. It took about 6-7 months before it started feeling better. My situation was a little different than yours. I had cramps. It sounds very likely that if the mass was causing the pain and is removed, but you are still experiencing the same pain that it's just going to take time for the pain to go away. 2 weeks isn't much time at all. You most certainly can call your doc to let him know what's going on. I'm sure you'll be feeling better. It just takes time.

Good luck and God bless!

Thanks Suzy. I'm hoping that will be the case. The pain is still there but it comes and goes. At the moment the severity is lessoning so hopefully it will get better with more time. He left my right ovary and that is the one that was twisted from the fibroid so hopefully it's healing.

thank you for your message.
Karen
