Incision infection? Need advice!

Everything has been going pretty well but now I have a concern that scares me. About one inch of my incision(on the end) is red and it stings. This just started last night.

Please let me know what some of you have experienced with this. Could this be an infection? What should I look out for? Should I call the doctor on a Saturday for this?

Just when I thought I was over the hump!

Incision infection? Need advice!

Anytime you are in doubt it is a good idea to call your doctor - even on a Saturday.

After my surgery I was told to watch for signs of possible infection - redness, itching, swelling, drainage. Occcasionally an allergic reaction can cause similar symptoms.

I'd give your doctor (or the doctor on call) a call to be safe.

I agree. Put a call in to the doc, it will put your mind at ease, if nothing is wrong then you will feel better about the visit, and if the insision is getting infected, you will have called on sat instead of waiting until monday, and have a 2 day jump on treatment...
hugs to you, and hope everything is fine.

FYI

Thanks snickers and lynnmaryvl,

I called my doctor and he returned my call right away.(I have a GREAT doctor) I described the redness, soreness in the area and he said if it isn't seeping/discharge to just keep an eye on it. He feels that since I am almost 3 weeks post-op that he doubts it is an infection. He thinks it is an irritation. I am so relieved!

Guess I better take it easy for a few days.

Happy Easter!
