Possible that I won't need HRT?
I had my TAH on April 17. So far, I haven't needed anything. Another sister mentioned the three month mark was the magical number. Well.....I passed that and am doing good. I feel like I'm waiting on the ball to drop. Is it possible that I won't need anything? I do get a little warm at night but its not anything major that I can't handle.

Did you keep your ovaries or have them removed along with the removal of your uterus? I checked your profile and it doesn't say.

Possible that I won't need HRT?
I had a total hyst with BSO, no HRT because if cancer history...so far 7 months out and only occasional hot flash...completely tolerable! I am drinking soy milk and having soy protein supplements after my workouts...ok'd by my dr....who knows - maybe it's helping!

Possible that I won't need HRT?
I just posted about this in another thread, but:
Like Jazzyctm, I can't have HRT because of cancer history (breast cancer). I'm only 10 days out, but so far, I've not had a single hot flash. I do have some sweating at night, but it's mild and I'm pretty sure it's related to the fact that it's summer and I'm not all that fond of A/C blowing on me while I sleep. Insomnia is much improved, too.
Unlike Jazzyctm, my doc advised me against having more than a couple servings of soy milk or soy protein per week, so that's not what's helping. I'm thinking that maybe because I was in chemo-induced menopause, maybe my body now thinks I'm post-menopausal. Who knows? Whatever the reason, I'll take it, thank you!

Possible that I won't need HRT?
Stories like this makes me want to have had my ovaries removed too! (I'm only uterus and cervix).
I had half my thyroid removed ten years ago. They measured my THS and other levels after the operation and asked me if I wanted to go on medication. I said no, I want to wait....and I'm still waiting, ten years later! I'm glad they asked me, if they'd just given me the meds, I'd of course had taken them....and never known that it really wasn't necessary.
Anything you can do that you don't need to take medication is great in my book! Including feeling not quite yourself for a while and understanding that it's a part of the process and that chances are that you may feel better in the near future.
Good for you!!!

Possible that I won't need HRT?
Had my TAH/BSO almost 9 mos. ago and no HRT for me either due to cancer. I still get hot flashes, nothing major, and notice my skin being a little drier, except my face which is oiler than it used to be. But, otherwise, I feel great!

Possible that I won't need HRT?
My doctor said to wait and see if I have any symptoms. She said several women never need HRT. I'm planning on being one of those, but I know medication is there if needed. I'm close to three weeks post-op and have had minimal hot flashes, no mood swings, and am feeling great!

Possible that I won't need HRT?
My doctor did not want me to have HRT....
I have had quite a few hot flashes, and have been cranky and depressed...
He suggested that I try Estroven, and see how I do with that.....
It's only day two on Estroven, but I haven't had a hot flash, and I'm not as moody (maybe it's all in my head???)....
