fatigue after hysterectomy this morning
So I had my surgery at 7:30 this morning. I am on a morphine pump. Besides the morphine making me itchy, and being tired itchy doing ok. But I feel so tired. My eyes are so heavy I can barely keep them open. I have napped off and on all day. I can't get out of my bed yet. Still got catheter and compression wraps on my legs. How long is this groggyness gonna last. So tired!

Re: fatique
Hi Sassy! You are still VERY early post-op and it can take several days for the effects of the Anasthesia to wear off and the groggy feeling to go away. Also, pain meds will make you feel drowsy as well. I remember sleeping most of the first 3 days post op. The fatigue will still be there for several weeks, but will gradually get better. Just remember to listen to your body and rest when needed. Take care!

Re: fatique
I second everything that Kimberly1 said.... I felt the way that you do on the day of my surgery Sassy, it's completely normal. I was in the hospital for 4 days and 4 nights. They removed the catheter on Day 3 I believe it was and that is when I got up and walking around abit. You will feel better and better and we are all here to support and answer any questions that you might have.
Gentle (((hugs))))

Re: fatique
I am about a week out and I am still pretty tired. I am much better than I was right after surgery. I have to admit I grossly underestimated the power of anesthesia.

Re: fatique
When you get some of the drugs out of your system, you will be less groggy I'm sure. The hospital where I was they didn't give any narcotics, they used Tylenol and toradol, therefore I didn't have the grogginess thing. You will probably perk up a little tomorrow. When are you going home? You will be able to relax better and be more comfortable once you get home!
