One final period
Well, Aunt Flo showed up yesterday and today is just as awful as always. Heavy bleeding, large clots and cramping. I suppose this helps reiterate to me that the hyster is needed.
However, a good friend told me yesterday that's she's pregnant. I cried my eyes out when I got home. Although pregnancy at my age (45) would be hard to come by, I felt so sad at having the total opposite being done to me. Dealing with the mental challenges of this surgery is harder than I ever imagined.

One final period
I was doing a happy dance for my last AF, which like yours was just as awful and painful as ever. I will not miss that horrid experience ever. But I will and do grieve what it's loss means in the long run. It's really hard at times.
Yes pregnancy news, baby bumps, baby cries, baby showers, etc. are going to be hard to hear about for a long while. We struggled with infertility forever, we had one miscarriage and now the hysterectomy just a few days ago. We will be forever childless. And that's not what we wanted at all. It's hard and it sucks and it never goes completely away, but it does get easier and more bearable with time. There is hope you will be able to be around babies and their fertile parents again. It took me five years to get there, and I still have tears from time to time. But it can and will happen if you let it. I'm here for you if you wish to talk futher about it. Sometimes it's just nice to know you're not alone!

Re: One final period
Aunt Flo seemed to know she was getting evicted with me. Before my hysterectomy on December 10th, I had 3 periods in 30 days. It was definitely a reminder as to why I needed surgery. I had been on monthly Lupron injections for the past five months. I was in chemical menopause,'somI shouldn't have been bleeding at all! There is also an Aching Hearts forum on this site where members post about grief and loss of fertility. Here are a couple of articles that may be of interest:

Thank you for your kind words of support. I read the links, thanks Mischief586! Those were helpful and I had to giggle a bit about having more room in your purse, glove box, etc.! There are many bright sides to having this surgery and I will do my best to focus on those.

Re: One final period
I've been having "one final period' for about 7 months now, it's non stop, perhaps there have been 10 clear days if that since May. So for me I'm looking forward to being free of it and it might be weird not having a period for a long time but I'm looking forward to doing things that aren't dependant about how bad I'm bleeding that day. I have one son who is 8 and I wanted at least one or two more kids, but life often takes unexpected turns. I'm lucky to have him. A long time ago when I was struggling with fertility issues ( the fun never stops!) a doctor told me that there are many ways to be a mom, and I took that to heart. Even now at my age the door is open for adoption and/or fostering. I tried very hard to avoid this surgery but now I'm looking forward to getting through it and not being held back by health issues.

One final period
I'm 38 and divorced with a 4 year old son. I wanted many children. I too know my chances of more were slim, but it so final. I have pregnant friends too. I haven't told them about my surgery so I don't ruin their moment. It's hard not to tell them. I feel your pain....sincerely!
