I'm new

Hi! I am so glad I stumbled upon this community. I have my surgery scheduled for November 6. I realize it is 12 weeks away but it may take me that long to get prepared. We have a vaginal hysterectomy planned with lap assistance to look at my ovaries. I'm nervous, like everyone else, and concerned how my wonderful husband will manage. I am a pastor's wife, elem school secretary and 2 kids so my plate is full. I have adenomyosis and possible endometriosis on my ovaries.

Re: I'm new

I'm glad you found us and hope you will enjoy spending time here both pre- and post-op.

There's a wealth of information and tips for you to use in the Pre-Op Page, plus you can start new threads on the Pre-Op message board where pre- and post-op Sisters can respond to help with any questions or support needs that you have.

As a side note, when I checked your Member Survey I noticed that you checked that you weren't sure if you would be keeping your cervix or not. If your cervix is healthy and you wish to keep it, discuss that with your doctor. Having a vaginal hysterectomy will result in the cervix being removed along with the uterus.

Best wishes for your surgery and recovery!

Re: I'm new

You're very welcome--it was my pleasure!

It may help to make a list of the questions that you have for your doctor so that you don't forget anything.
