Anyone tried an alcoholic drink yet ?

Hi after my 2 week check up the dr said all was well and that he had taken a look at my liver, gall bladder any everything he fancied peeking at. Told me liver was in good shape and should I fancy a drink I was free to do so.
I'm not on any pain meds and the beer my DH has just opened looks very tempting, has anyone else had a beer yet or is it just too early ?

I'd say go ahead, in moderation of course. You just might want to be cautious about gas & bloating from the carbonation. I have to watch my soda pop consumption because of that.

I had beer at our cook-out on Labor Day which was a few weeks after my surgery. It tasted good and no harm done!

Oh yes! I had surgery the same day as you, and I had a wonderful pint of Guinness a few days ago. It was great! Now that you mention it, I might have one tonight too. Enjoy!

Had a TAH/BSO on 9/16 - no complications post-op & doing fine . . .

. . . so when my DH took me out to dinner for the first time after surgery on 9/29 I had a glass of chardonnay. No problems arose & the fruit of the vine was a delightful treat!

I waited until 3 weeks and had a glass of wine with my daughter. The only problem I had was major hot flashes when I went to bed. I haven't had anything else since then and it's been a week. Right now, it's not something that I even think about.

I was told that Red Wine can cause some people problems. Red Wine is no longer my friend, the hot flashes are terrible, and they start within a few minutes. White wine isn't as bad and haven't notice with Rum & diet coke.

I'll need to decide if it's worth the hot flashes...

I'm still on meds, no drinky for me! I have the strange feeling it would not take much! LOL!

I was told it's OK as long as I'm not taking pain meds. I have had a few beers it was wonderful.!!
