Pre-op today......anxiety getting high

Hi everyone! My pre-op is today and I'm starting to get really nervous. Surgery is in 27 days and with this pre-op today I have realized just how fast this is coming....if i"m this freaked out at the rehersal, what Am I going to be like the day of the performance? lol

You'll be fine - says me (who's ******** myself too)! I don't have a pre-op appt at all. I was given the date at my last gyne appt and told to turn up on the morning of the operation to the hospital.

I feel the same way. My pre-op is March 19th with surgery being on the 29th. I was cool with it all but as the day starts to get closer I'm starting to panic a bit. I think it's gotten worse because I've turned in all my paperwork to my boss to be out for surgery. It makes it seem more official now. Before it was just a date way off somewhere. Now, it's 26 days away and I'm starting to question if I've made the right decision. I don't HAVE to have the surgery. It's my choice after many painful years to do so. Anyway, just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I'm starting to panic as well as clean my house like a mad woman so everything is in it's place prior to surgery.

I can tell you that we all go through the jitters before. Even though I knew that I had made the right decision to have surgery, I was very anxious. When I got to the hospital, I told the nurse that I was really stressed out. They gave me some medicine and it really helped calm me down. I tried to stay very busy before the surgery so I didn't think about it as much. It is very normal to feel this way. I would let them know about your fears so they can help you. The more you know, the calmer you will feel about it.

I don't know the details of why you are having the surgery but if you are questioning your decision you may want to get another opinion. It is fine to get more opinions before doing this. Another thing that might help is to write down the pros and cons of the surgery. That way you can look at it and see if you still want the surgery. Sending lots of

Thank you sisters for your support....it is much needed and much appreciated. I just returned from my pre-op appointment and I am very much at peace with my decision. However, my anxiety level is very high and will just get worse before the big day. I spoke to the surgical assesment nurse at the castle and she told ne to go to my family doctor and get a prescription for pre-op Adavan so I won't feel so anxious and crazy.....and she told me to take one the morning of surgery before leaving for the castle and just let the duty nurse know when I get there. So I'm off to the dr. in an hour....I just hope he gives them to me.
