new pain 11 weeks after abdominal hysterectomy
Hello
I am confused about getting new pain almost 11 weeks after TAH. My ovaries were left. I have had a textbook recovery but for the last week I have period like pain and shooting pains inside. I had to take codeine last night. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I see the doc or wait to see if it passes?

I would go to your general doctor and see if theres anything going on eith your digestive system.
You should be over your initial healing and all internal stitches should be dissolved so it may not be related to your surgery, could be something else so just get a general check to see if theres anything going on.
Take care

You could be having your period. The ovaries will still go through the cycle even though the uterus is missing. You may even have some spotting if any uterine tissue is left. Also, remember things are still 'tender' in there.
I would contact your doctor for assurance it is not something he needs to check on.

Re: new pain 11 weeks after abdominal hysterectomy
I'm sitting here at nearly 12 weeks post op and feeling the EXACT pain I had before the surgery. My surgeon is blaming it on my ovaries, and possibly adhesions, and now wants to remove them. I cannot believe I went through this whole recovery so far and still not one pain-free day, and now the pain has increased again to painkiller-necessary intensity that is completely affecting my quality of life, or rather the lack thereof. Some period-like pain would be understandable, with ovaries kept, but it shouldn't constant and debilitating. I hope yours gets better soon.

((Gizmouk)) As your ovaries wake up, it is normal to have the hormonal symptoms that you had before your surgery. It is not usual to have sharp pains at 11 weeks post op. Please check with your doctor to. Please let us know how you are and what you find out. Remember that we are here for you . . . you are not alone.
on your continued recovery.

new pain 11 weeks after abdominal hysterectomy
Hello
Saw the doctor today and he thinks I have adhesions. He says they are inevitable. I have to do stretching exercises to try to 'separate' them. It will be painful but less so than leaving them.

I am glad that you were able to get in to see your doctor today. Adhesions are common after surgery . . . hoping with you that the stretching will help them separate.
on your continued recovery.
