Now I am nervous

Now I am nervous. I only have one bathroom upstairs. If I am not going to be able to do steps? I will most likely be going up and down the steps. As wonderful as my 9 yo is and has been watching videos and helping me get into pre surgery shape, he will not be any help. I do not have a DH I have a What is taking so long to be DH>>>> He will probably be a phone call away (works for self in field) so I am now trying to rethink my process. UUUUGGG thank goodness I have 74+ days to work it out though.

I found sleeping and resting in a recliner much more comfortable (and safer) than a bed for about the first two weeks. I wasn't stretched out as much as I would be laying in bed to sleep, and I found it painful to lay on my side. Also no chance of anyone bumping up against me in their sleep!

I have no recliner, but I agree about the "semi-reclined" position it gives you. I wound up using one of those pillows that lets you sit up in bed; in college we used to call them a "husband." I had someone flip that over so the thinnest part was pointing toward the foot of the bed, and just slept that way. I also used a child's bed rail to help myself sit up, letting my arms and shoulders do the work.

Hi ladies - I am glad I read all of your posts! I am driving myself nuts because I will be given my actual surgery date on the 24th - Having more tests ran However, I too have a 1/2 bath on the lower level and everything is upstairs! I am just worried about the everything after, making sure I have my ducks in a row!

Regarding stairs. I'm sure each of us are different in our abilities post op, but I was navigating stairs 4 days post op. My husband has a job that takes him away for days at a time so I was on my own somewhat. My advice is if you can't get around using the stairs allow yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go and figure out which easy is best and easiest for you. It was a matter of necessity in my case and took me forever to get up and down...lol!
However, if you can avoid using the stairs that is prob your best option.

My husband has asked his friends if I could borrow their shower lol - He's just as nervous as I am I think! I have plans already to stake claim of the living room, I put my little shelf up in there with things I need - Just trying to keep busy so that I am not thinking about surgery. It seems like it is so long away, yet too close for comfort! Thank you for the info -

As a mom and former daycare provider at my home.... I would not want you watching my baby, 3 and 5 might be ok :/ ... think.... one baby knocks one baby down both are crying.... you need to jump up to help... Oh ya we cant Jump or bend or lift... A baby needs to be rocked I love that time ... oh ya STITCHES.... I know you are trying to help the family's out but it is not safe... Fire! Sorry to sound like a Witch but you have to look at this...

Regarding Penelopejinx: I have been blessed (so far) with a VERY smooth recovery. The second day home from hospital I was completely on my own for about two days although help was only a phone call away if I needed it....BUT there is no way in the world I wud have wanted to or been able to care for small children!!!!! Even now at six weeks out my energy level and tolerance for that wud be minimal. I have been able to go back to the gym and resume light workouts but I know that I wud be unable still to lift a child weighing over ten pounds.
