What type of HRT are you using? Concerned about weight gain after hysterectomy for endometriosis.

Hi there
Can I ask what type of HRT you are using?
I am going to have mine following an endometriosis next month and panicking about all the weight gain stories. Consultant told me that he will remove everything inc. ovaries.
Thanks

Re: What type of HRT are you using? Concerned about weight gain after hysterectomy for endometriosis.

I had a total hysterectomy 13 months ago . and was put straight on prognova single hormone hrt, the reason for hysterectomy i had several abnormal smears for high grade cells, had had a lletz procedure but cells returned, also riddled with endo, also on bowel and bladder. 6 months after hysterectomy pain came back as before the op .. went to see consultant and he told me to stop taking the hrt for 3 months and go back, if i was still in pain it was a gynocology issue if not it could be something else, the problem now is i am having constant throbbing aching legs, and nothing seems to help ...... I am going out of my mind with the pain i am in .. not sure if anything is ever going to help .. and i really dont think that an hysterectomy solves the problem of endo .. wish i had looked more into it but not everyone is the same .. might be good for you .. but i think and have been told that hrt can feed the remaining endo if you have any outside the womb .. all the best

I had a LAVH/BSO on 3/29/17 due to endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and 3 endometrioma cysts on both ovaries. I just recently started on Jencycla (Norethindrone) .35mg birth control pills Monday. I haven't been on any HRT up till this point as my surgeon wanted me to be in menopause for 3 months before reintroducing estrogen HRT back into my system to ensure any traces of endo were dried up (since estrogen feeds endo). For whatever reason (possible Ovarian Remnant Syndrome) my body was still producing estrogen per hormone level blood work conducted on 5/31/17. My gyn is having my levels checked again as of 7/7/17 but I haven't gotten those results yet. However, I'm not experiencing the typical symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, crazy mood swings, insomnia, etc.

Since I've yet to go into menopause and my body appears to still be producing estrogen my gyn has started me on a progesterone only birth control pill to try and keep my endo from flaring back up and creating adhesions in my abdomen. Like you I worry about the weight gain and other side effects such as depression, fatigue, and sore/swollen breasts. This is my 2nd week of my breasts actually feeling normal again and I really don't want to go back to dealing with sore and swollen breasts like I did for the past month and a half.

From reading other posts on this site this whole HRT business and trying to find what works best can be quite maddening .

and best of luck finding what will work for you.
