LAVH: Your Experience!!!

Ok, getting ready for this LAVH. The only other surgery I've had was my gall bladder out lapo. Are the incisions like that?? Will my belly swell alot and what about bleeding vaginally??? Some folks say they still have bleeding like a period. Not sure why?? Do you still get the cramps and back-ache?? Thanks for any info. Getting ready in 4 days and counting!! YES SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you, Tazmoo, I have not had my surgery yet (6/22) and would be interested in answers to your questions too. Good questions.

Every experience is unique. And we don't all have the same procedures. You can check out the hyster stories based on your specific procedures. Just scroll down on the forums list. Be warned however that some of the stories will probably scare you. Try to pay more attention to the positive ones.

Some of us have bleeding, some no bleeding. There are good and bad hospital experiences and plenty of possible complications that can happen. Your experience will be unique to you and you should really try to imagine the best possible outcome and stay positive.

I had LAVH last November. Yes, the scars are exactly like the ones you have from having your gall bladder removed. My stomach was slightly swollen after the surgery, but only for a few days. I didn't bleed, but spotted a little for about two days. Just keep in mind that everyone is different and heals differently! The only thing I know for sure is that the scars will be the same-just in different areas. Hope this helps!

Try to relax a little and stay busy-the waiting and anticipation are the worst!
