Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 26-Jul 02,2017

If your hysterectomy was between Jun 26-Jul 02,2017 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your hysterectomy recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads now begin in our special forum for all Hysterectomy Recovery Reports and will remain there for you to always find your discussion.
  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Well it looks like I get to be the first to report.
I'm still in the hospital and will be for another 2 days.
The pain is being controlled by the pain pump. I'm supposed to get the catheter out today and try to be up and walking.
I've been drinking tons of water and had some jello. No nausea fortunately.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to sleep, at all.
Hoping all my sisters are healing well and praying all my sisters that haven't had ttheir surgery yet this week will have a successful surgery.

My surgery was yesterday and I was home in bed by 6:00 PM. I'm feeling really good, just what feels like cramps and sore abs. Forcing myself to relax because I feel good enough to get up and do "stuff". Grateful for all the guidance I've gotten from this site. I'm so blessed to have such a great surgical and recovery team.
I wish a speedy recovery, free from complications to everyone!

So glad you home and doing so well. Looks like I won't be going home until Thursday. Just remember to rest, rest and rest.

I had TLH/BSO done yesterday morning and just got home. I don't feel like I need a narcotic but I'm definitely uncomfortable. My gas pain seem to be worse than anything. What are you guys doing about it? I've just been trying to move around as much as I can manage. Not doing any chores or lifting of any kind, just walking around the house....

I had a TAH/BSO so I am still in the hospital on a pain pump so I'm not sure about your situation but it sounds like you should be resting more. I know that everything I read the past few weeks said that resting was the most important thing at this point. So please take it easy.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 26-Jul 02,2017

Just got home, had the davinci robotic surgery yesterday, total hysterectomy. I had a large cyst on my right ovary and since I'm 55 years the surgery was done by an oncologist gynecologist, who was awesome. Good news, no cancer! He was suspicious of the cyst since one ultrasound came back simple, another complex. I've never had any issues , my period stopped 2 years ago but I never had bad menopause symptoms so I'm hoping I don't go through it now after the hysterectomy.
I'm sore and gassy and swollen but other than that no pain. I live south of Atlanta and this doctor came highly recommended but does the surgery an hour north of me so the ride home wasn't fun. I have a good support system, my husband and I both work for Delta so he took some time off to take care of me, co workers are cooking for me ( even though my husband cooks!) and my daughter lives nearby.
Hope everyone is doing well! We can get through this together!

Kstaver I didn't sleep at last night either, hope you get some sleep tonight. See if they can give you a sleeping pill.
Feel better and hope for a quick recovery for you!
