2.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still tired ?

I'm 2.5 weeks post laparoscopic hysterectomy. I've been feeling good and pretty much back to my old activity level. Today was my husband's first day back to work and I had planned on getting lots of stuff done around the house. I slept well, but woke up exhausted. Is it normal to be tired again after this much time? I'm planning on going back to work next week.

Re: 2.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still tired ?

It is strange but I would say yes the exhaustion is normal. Your body has gone through some major physical changes with equally traumatic physiological changes to boot.

I am back to work post op 3+ weeks and I feel like I could sleep for a year! I am exhausted and have no idea why as I have a desk job where I have been sitting for about 7.5 hours.

I don't think your fatigue is out of the ordinary at all as I am dealing with the same. Hang in there and listen to your body!

2.5 weeks really isn't a lot of time when it comes to hysterectomy recovery. Even if it's done laparoscopically, a hysterectomy is still major surgery. Your body needs to do a lot of healing inside afterwards, and that's true even if you've got smaller incisions outside.

Re: 2.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still tired ?

Perfectly normal to be exhausted on and off at this point! You will have days where you feel great for a little or even a long while, then boom it just hits you! I went back to work after 4 weeks and for the first week when I got home I crashed on the sofa for the rest of the evening. It gets better, slowly.

Advice: when the exhaustion hits you, don't fight it! If you are at home, get on that couch and lie down for a while. If you are at work, try to take a little break if you can. It will pass.
