2 Steps back at Day 19

Hi Everyone,

I have been at home since Sept 7th, the day after my hysterectomy and I was seeing an improvement everyday. I was even able to have a BM when I got home on the 2nd day.....but after 4 days of pain meds I got to the point where I was desperate to be able to have another BM. The only pain I seemed to be having was gas, gas and more gas. So I stopped the prescription pain meds and changed to Tylenol Extra Strength and was then finally able to have another BM by the next day. Everything else seems to be healing well and I find I get tired out pretty quickly, just having a shower seems to take it out of me. My husband has been doing a great job of taking care of me, although we seem to have a lot of leftovers accumulating.

Since it was my Birthday on Saturday (Day 16 of my recovery) I though it would be nice to have my husband cook for me and we also invited my Mom, our 2 sons and my daughter-in-law over to share my day. It was very nice and dinner was great but boy was I tired after that. Took it easy the next day but by day 18 I though I would be well enough to go and watch my husband and 2 sons play hockey....well the next day I was exhausted and had a dull ache in my abdomen all day.
I listened to my body.....no choice it was taking pretty loud and spent the day in bed.

I need to remember to pamper the princess....I guess starting to feel better I forget how much my body had been through. I am still taking it easy today....don't want to feel like I did yesterday again.

Re: 2 Steps back at Day 19

Even two or three weeks out, you can do fairly little and feel like you've done too much. Rest now, but most of us really feel much better after three or four weeks. You'll find, in another few days, instead of feeling like you need to spend a day in bed, you might only need a nap. "One step back" is a really common problem during recovery.
