A ? about intimacy early in recovery

Immediate apologies if this is too offensive or TMI, but I have no idea where else to ask.

Hubby asked tonight if oral sex was okay and I wasn't sure. I had my 2 week post op today and honestly didn't think to ask my dr. about masturbation or oral sex. I know we have to wait a few more weeks for regular intercourse but I am not sure why this wouldn't be okay since I had my hysterectomy abdominally and not vaginally. Plus, if the hubby wants to pamper the princess, who am I to stop him!

Any input greatly appreciated! (and I suppose I can call the doc tomorrow)

Oral can lead to bacteria going in there, when my dr told me nothing in the vagina he meant nothing, including oral.

I was told NO stimulation for me at all! He said that I had internal stitches everywhere. If I got stimulated, it would cause blood to rush down there and could mess up what work he had done to me. I would definately call my doc and find out for sure what is and is not allowed. You don't want to start all over again!!

I would have to agree that any type of sex right now is probably too early. We waited the full 6 weeks to do anything and Im glad. At 6 weeks I felt so much better. I also had a abdominal surgery and I really couldn't even imagine having sex or any type of it b at 2 weeks post surgery.

Well, I don't know about intercourse but what about 'outercourse' if you know what I mean!!! There is a section on intamacy on this website, why don't you have a read of that. And for the record my husband and I tried a little bit of 'external stimulation' at 2 weeks and i was fine!!! No-one said not to!!!

You really do need to check with your doctor before engaging in any sort of sexual activity. Some doctors will allow external stimulation but not all do. The only way to know for sure what is safe for you is to ask your own doctor and then to follow your doctor's orders.
