Stomach aches

Today, day10 post-op, I am feeling a lot more energetic and not as tired. I'll probably pay for it tomorrow.I have had the most awful stomach aches and doing a NO. 2 is murder. I am so afraid of straining and rupturing something. I have to take 2 iron pills a day because I am very anaemic, especially after the op.Decided to continue with Advil, which does help. Does anyone feel like they are walking around about 4 months pregnant with this swelly belly?!!

Stomach aches

Hi there,

Yes my belly is swollen as well. The day after surgery it looked like I was 9 mths pregnant. Today 9 days later it has gone down considerably and only looks about 4. I have faith that it will all be okay after some time. We have to consider there was a lot going on in there with the surgery and there is so much to heal.

I have not had problems doing BM's. I drink a lot of water and I make sure to walk all throughout the day. When I eat, I have small meals and don't eat any deepfried or greasy foods. I don't do a lot at one time, but a little here and there. I am taking a woman's multi-vitamin and a aloe vera gel suppliment.

Enjoy your time off - just don't over do it.... -becca

Stomach aches

I used OTC stool softeners ( NOT laxitives) and that has helped trmendously with the BM. Yikes the first 2 weeks I thought there was a train going through a tunnel down there! The softeners worked and I took them morning and night! Good luck - it'll get better before you know it!

Stomach aches

I'm right there with you! Surgery date was 5/10/05 and I've tried so hard to eat some real fiber (steel cut oats, rycrisp) and drink plenty of water and juice so I wouldn't get constipated. I'm almost that way today, so I'm trying to relax. By the way, I had to take liguid iron pre-op and it did just the oppisite of iron tablets!!!! You might want to ask your Dr. about it. And remember Tomorrow will be a better day!!
