Can't sleep! 12 hrs post op

Well for the most part I feel good. Way better than expected. Perhaps too much sleep during surgery? Maybe the hydro codone? I was nauseous after pain meds in recovery but now home I'm layin in the bed staring at the walls lol. I've slept a few min here and there. I was super thirsty when I got home and drank lots of water, now goin potty every hour lol. The first five times I got up I had help. Now I'm propped up enough to push myself up with my arms, dngle a foot to the grund, then I grab my belly and just a short distance to the bathroom. I'm blessed to be staying with my mom while I recover...handicap bathroom! Haha.
So any advice or opinions about my sleep? I kept my ovaries but I'm wondering if still the hormones are just goin crazy. I would get insomnia while on my periods.

Re: Can't sleep! 12 hrs post op

Wow, home that soon! My surgery was late afternoon so I spent the night and most of the next day in the hospital before they would let me out. So for me, 12 hours post surgery was morning and time to be awake.

(After surgery: "Time to wake up. Oh, good, you're awake. Now it's time to go to sleep." Me: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

So I hope by now either you've gotten some sleep or the fact that it's daytime means it doesn't bother you to be awake. Just be sure and get plenty of rest, even if you aren't sleeping!

I was awake for 2 days after surgery. The pain meds made me wired and I would doze off for a few minutes, wake up for a while, doze off again...over and over. Finally slept on the last night I was in the hospital. I'm 13 days post-op and back to not sleeping so much.

Re: Can't sleep! 12 hrs post op

I traded hydrocodone for ibprofen last night and I finally slept. I think it reduced some swelling too because my guts were grumbling! Pain isnt as well managed with the ibprofen though... Its a trade off. Maybe I can rotate between the two.
