Loose bowels

I had a so much work done on 3/26, I had hysterectomy, bladder sling, vaginal vault prolapse, and recetocele. I came home and could not got to bathroom, constipated, Dr. told me to use a enema and that worked. I finally went now its so loose I go at least 8 times a day and its not formed any more. I used stool softners after enema problems for 2 days and senekot S. Has anyone had this problem and how do I get it to stop? Is it just my gut trying to get back to normal? I also have IBS so that doesnt help. Any advice??

Re: Loose bowels

I have IBS, too. I stopped taking stool softner four days after surgery because I had diarrhea 5 times that day. My IBS leans toward constipation and after trying to get upstairs to the bathroom while also trying to remove the binder with REALLY good velcro was just more than I could handle. It took another week or so before my BMs were solid. This weekend, I took one colase a day for 2 days because things started slowing down too much. That seemed to work and hopefully everything will continue improving. I think for those of us with "weird" BM issues, all of this is a "crap shoot" (pardon the pun) on how much med is needed to make things work at our normal level, which is actually not all that normal.

Good luck.
