Pain in upper thigh after hysterectomy: DVT?

First of all, I'm so glad I found this site, everyone here is so amazing and supportive! Thanks ladies!
So I had TVH 4 days ago, I was just released from the hospital yesterday. Before I left my upper thigh started to hurt. The nurse thought it was from the pain med injection site (last one I received was 2 days prior). Well it started to hurt worse last night, pain is in the front and outside of thigh and my calf feels kinda numb (for lack of a better word). Went to ER and the Dr was a real jerk, would only do an xray. I was told there was no way it was a clot since I didn't have pain behind my knee. I also have a lump on the upper/outer thigh. Was told its probably a lipoma. I left there so mad!! My leg still hurts, worse when I'm standing/walking. There is no redness or swelling though. Should I try to contact my Dr?? Or wait until Monday? Or am I being a huge baby?

Re: Pain in upper thigh after hysterectomy: DVT?

When I was 3 weeks post op I experienced pain in my thigh (middle of my inner thigh). I had no other symptoms that usually accompany a DVT....swelling, redness, or warm to touch. I was admitted to the hospital for 8 days. I'm not saying your pain is from a clot, but I am saying that pain can be the only symptom.

Just to be safe, why not call your doctor? If you can't reach your own doctor you could always call the ER and speak to the doctor on call. It's always better to err on the side of caution.

Re: Pain in upper thigh after hysterectomy: DVT?

I had DaVinci and the inside of my right thigh was tender. I wouldn't call it pain, but I was aware of it for a few days post surgery. Almost felt like numb or bruising. I noticed when I came home from the hospital and it only lasted a few days.

My doctor said it was probably from the positioning of the DaVanci stirrups. I don't want to downplay your pain in case it is more serious, but mine went away a few days after it appeared (and again, it wasn't pain more like tender/bruise). Maybe call your doctor and ask about your positioning during surgery?

Hope you feel better
