Post op. alone and miserable

Hi girls,
I had my hysterectomy last thursday, I was discharged from hopsital with only codiene pain relief and I stopped taking it due to consitpation.
I was having prolapse repair in the anterior and posterior wall, the doc insisted on removing my uterous because more childbirth would damage the operation. I have ehlers danlos syndrome which makes things a whole lot worse. Had a bladder sling already and it was damaged from childbirth.. my last and any future babies would drop out after 16 weeks due to instability.
I am in pain... I am in a guest house all alone waiting for a ride back to my house i live in a rural area. No transport and I keep bursting into tears,. not sure if it is pain, or the fact I have no one to look after me, or I have no clue how to get to the chemist to get some pads and something for the consipation so I can take some pain relief. I just don;t know what to do or epxect. I found a lump inside my labia this morning, and didnt know what it was whether it was stitching from the procedure or allergy to the catheter which is in for another week. I cant pee.
Im scared of going back to care for my children and not sure what to expect.
I have my ovaries so not sure why the non stop tears..

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

Can the person driving you to your house go and get what you need from the drug store? How many little ones will you have to look after alone?
It seems emotional is typical even if you keep your ovaries

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

I'm sorry you are having a difficult time. Can you ask your doctor for something other than codeine for pain control? Codeine is incredibly constipating for me, but I do well with other types of pain meds.

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

Sweetie I am so sorry you are going through this. Hopefully your ride can take you to get your supplies. Your ovaries may be in sleep mode for a while post op, so the tears. And you aren't used to being alone and isolated. I was alone but by choice. Do you have a phone? Can you call the Dr about your concerns? Do you have a car when you are cleared to drive? Can someone help you with the children, or are they old enough to help you? I hope you at least have someone to call. And we are here for you to talk. Try to rest a little, maybe have a cup of tea. I wish I could be there to help.

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

It breaks my heart that you are having such a difficult time. I don't have any advice that is different from what the fellow princesses have given, but just know that we are all sending healing positive energy your way. It will get better.

Warm thoughts,

Msbhavin

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

Thanks for replying.. I ended up taking a taxi to the shops to get what i need.. was expensive but wiped me out i took a long nap.
I am still 3 hours from home and hopefully when I am ready for the long drive back... I can enlist some people to help me a little bit.
i kind of need the peace.. my 4 year old is active and i care for my pregnant 18 year old who has some neurological issues.

I am so glad to find this site.. you girls are wonderful.. x

Re: Post op. alone and miserable

My doctor is also 3 hours away unless i see the specialist.. not enough money left for that.
2 more days an I get to go home and hopefully I will feel a bit better
