excruciating pains in legs, is this normal after surgery?

Hi all...well it's been a week since my Robotic...feeling great, and tend to push myself to much because I'm no longer in pain....come night time when all said and done, my legs are literally killing me, pain shooting everywhere, I worry that I might be getting blood clots, but I've checked to see if they are swollen and they aren't....is this pain normal, does it go along with the surgery???? Hate to take pain meds now that I'm feeling good, but the past two nites I've had to cave and take some :/ Shooting pain in my vagina as well, I'm hoping this is all normal...or maybe I'm pushing myself to much...has anyone else experienced this?

Re: excruciating pains in legs, is this normal after surgery?

It sounds like you're saying that your legs don't bother you until the end of the day after you've been up and about all day. Is that right? If so, then it may be varicose veins. I'm only 36, but have vericose veins behind my right knee and boy did it throb and ache for a couple of weeks, and got worse in the evening. A heating pad and propping it up helped a ton.

On the other hand, if it hurts all day long and is worse when you walk then you need to go to the ER and have a doplar ultra sound done to make sure you don't have a blood clot.

Either way, this is something you should report to your doctor today. This isn't the type of thing you want to take the wait and see approach on.

Re: excruciating pains in legs, is this normal after surgery?

I am the same way. I had the Da Vinci done on June 4th. By the end of each day my legs and back are so sore to where I can't stand by the time I am ready for bed. I guess I am just pushing myself too much or maybe it's the fact that I have 4 kids that keep me buys and on my feet all day. At my 2wks follow up she wasn't worried about it just told me to try not to do so much. The only things my dr is worried about is my bladder leakage and my occasional right side pain.

I do have the veins, but I got them stripped and laser removed, granted some of them have come back but are not bulging like my other ones...so I am familiar with that pain....I guess I was overdoing it yesterday, will see how I feel tonite since I somewhat took it easy today...thank you ladies!
