Going back to work

I had a TLH on 28/9 and am going back to work on 4/1/13. My job is pretty intense when it comes to heavy lifting, I work in a hot deli and the heaviest thing i have to lift is a crate of 12 chickens at a time for cooking. I go back to see my doc on 24th Dec as surgery is closed over Christmas and New Year. I feel as fit as I was before and am doing all the things I did pre-op. What my question is is do I get phased back in and go for light duties or do I go straight back into my old job? My boss said it was up to me, but am not sure. I was released on week 8 to return to normal life after a few hiccups along the way but I obviously don't want to do any damage to my internal healing either as you only get one chance to heal. Don't know what to do.

Re: Going back to work

I would say if you have the opportunity of phased return then go for it, if it is on offer especially as you have some manual lifting in your job. Same with light duties, if your boss is willing to be flexible then make the most of it.
