in need of advice

Hello Sisters, I would like to know if any of you have some advice on what to wear to be more comfortable while haeling from TAH/BSO. I am sceduled to go in on May2nd. and I am having an abdominal incision (up and down) due to the fact that I have allready had two bikini line incisions because of 2 surgerys for ectopic pregnancys that both ruptured on me so my Doc says he can not do another bikini line.and I am worried that sweats and such will be uncomfortable. but I will be having alot of freinds over to check on me so I don't want to lounge around in a nitegown if I can help it. so if any of you have had this kind of incision and have any ideas for me I would love to hear them. Thanks to all of you, Cathy

I haven't had surgery yet, but a friend of mine who is already a princess suggested I wear "potato sack" dresses. She wore these for many weeks post-op and swears by them. I've got a few on standby. Hope this helps!

Hi Kathy

I had two bikini cuts due to c-sections, one of which was infected when they did the TAH. The doc fixed it and I must say even with the staples it looks good, very good.

As for clothing, I too have friends over alot, one thing i love is the Long nite shirts. As someone suggested, try to find something kind of satiny cuz it is easier to move around on bed in.

I found a couple of real nice niteshirts one was deep rose color and the other was pink at The Family Dollar, if you have those in your area. Or, if not, try a nice dept store. I purchased ones with buttons as it is easier. Trust me they are fashionable (as i get a mental pic of granny dusters lol)

I am sure your friends will understand you are having major surgery and honey it is all about comfort for YOU.

If you are uncomfortable wearing those alone, the ones i got are NOT see thru either, then treat yourself to a nice robe also.

Be good to you as your friends will understand you are not well. They are coming to see you not what you have on.

While I was in hosptial, I wanted NO visitors, I was in pain and when I am in pain I want to be alone, I wouldnt even let my Pastor come see me.

He is a very compassionate man and I didnt want him to worry.

Hope I helped. I agree with that type of incision i dont think sweats would be very comfy.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I lived in cotton/knit shifts (still do on weekends around the house!) Fresh Produce makes some nice ones. Very comfy and colorful. If you can't find someplace that sells Fresh Produce brand, there are others out there that are similar. I found mine at Ross stores!

Best Wishes to you!

I'm going to wear an oversized nite shirt for the first couple of days. After that I'll wear some bulky shorts. I went into the Men's department and bought some oversized basketball shorts. They are soooo comfortable and silky inside so they slide off easily.

I wore a nightgown nonstop (well, I changed them regularly, but you know what I mean ) for the first week. We had company and then I would don a robe on top of it. I refused to have to pull pants up and down for the bathroom, etc until I was healed a bit more. I did wear lycra undies, which gave my tummy good support--it's a pretty fluffy tummy and the undies helped resist the pull of gravity.

Hope you find some lovely gowns! Best wishes for a perfect surgery and happy healing.

sweats worked fine for me

I have a vertical incision that stops right at the belly button. I spent the first 2-3 days in pajamas and put on my robe if someone came by. After that, sweats, leggings, and anything else with an elastic waist have been very comfortable.

I got an abdominal binder at the castle which keeps anything around my waist from causing irritaiton. I have also found the lycra support briefs to be comfortable. I wear them all the time so I didn't have to go out and buy any.

I have not had my surgery yet...but I also have had to previous bikini cuts do to c-sections. My DR is going to go in the same way...she said she would just cut out the old scar and scar tissue...but I have friends that have the vertical incision and they wore night shirts the first week and then sweat pants, shorts and leggings!! The incision stopped right below the belly button so the waist band did not bother them.
