Re: Cuff Stitches question

I am six and a half weeks post op and I just saw some stitches this week. I am hoping they were the only ones. I still have a yellow discharge. I guess they are still disolving.

Re: Cuff Stitches question

I work for a GP and decided yesterday to ask the boss how long it take for stitches to come out. I was surprised by his answer. "Most don't". Then he explained. External stitches are disolvable but you don't want internal stitches to disolve, especially abdominal, hernia and sometimes other areas - it makes the cut area stronger. Depends on the surgery. So that is a good question for the Dr. you had. I need to ask my surgeon. Seeing him 2 weeks today.

Re: Cuff Stitches question

Greetings, girls! I had a LAVH/BSO on May 20th and still haven't seen any vaginal cuff stitches being passed. Perhaps as you say, Canuck, there won't be any.

One word of encouragement... the day my Dr. discharged me from the hospital, he sat down in my room and talked with me, heart to heart. He said, 5 or 6 weeks down the road (or longer), I'll have a good day followed by a horrible day. He stressed, "DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!" I'm glad he gave me some advanced warning. I feel great, but have certainly had the occasional "down" day. So, hang in there girls! It will get better!

Re: Cuff Stitches question

Count me in the group where I didn't see any fallen stiches.

By the way, a British doctor who examined me as part of a biannual (voluntary, but all tests and almost free) medical exam through my HMO called it a "stump" not a cuff!

ICK!

Re: Cuff Stitches question

IMHS, I, too have the yellow discharge and it got so dang smelly i went to the doctor and he put me on Flagyl to kill any anerobes that might have gotten around in there. I am day 6 of the med and I STILL smell like spray starch and a little fishy. Also, dry as a bone down there. Geez Lousie, I am afraid to say what next

Re: Cuff Stitches question

It is also referred to as vaginal vault apex. That is my personal preference. Sound nicer to me - has an air of mystery
