why am i feeling Worse?.....

Hi everyone, I will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow and I have been having a lot of pain/crampy feelings. I even took a vicoden last night and that didnt seem to help too much. It seems a little better when I wake up in the morning, but then it gets so much worse. I wonder if im over doing things. I had just about every repair done that there is along with my TVH. I also have a low back ache. any advice girls?? Thanks!!!!! Jody

Jody --
You didn't say what all you have been doing, so it's hard to say if you've been over-doing it, but from the way you're describing how you feel it sure sounds like it to me. Have you gone back to a job? Or are you taking care of kids? If you had a lot of repair done, that means they did more work inside you than somebody who didn't have all those repairs done. So there's more healing involved. Are you getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of water, all that other stuff that you've probably read here a bunch of times? It is all really important. The best thing I read when I was recovering was that you only have one chance to heal well..........if you can take it easy, do so. Put your feet up, rest a while. Or do it whenever you get a chance. Call your doctor if it doesn't get any better........or if it would give you peace of mind, just call and tell him/her what you're feeling and see what they say.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Jody,

Like Ann, I'm wondering about your activity level, especially since you yourself are wondering if you're overdoing it. I've seen many sisters fall into the trap of thinking that when they're released for normal activity at 6 weeks, they can resume life as if nothing had happened but, unfortunately, it doens't work that way for many of us.

Keep in mind that your many repairs will add on to your early recovery time. Those fragile tissues need much time to heal and build up strength.

Let us know what you've been up to....call your Dr. for your own peace of mind, and get off your feet much more than you have been. Listen to your body. There is still loads of healing going on. Hope you'll be feeling better soon!

My very best to you...
