Anyone else not have a pre-op?

I don't have a pre-op appt prior to surgery. I was referred to a specialist and I've only seen him once. They gave me my pre-op instructions (yes, it includes a bowel prep)and took blood work the same day. I don't know if they'll do xrays the day of surgery or not. Its kindof weird to have a dr operating on me that I have only met once. I know he is considered the best in the state for lap so I trust him. Let me say I trust the dr who referred me to him. This all seems just a little too weird to me.

Anyone else not have a pre-op?

Hi Sherri,
I had a TVH and I didn't have a pre-op appointment either. The morning of surgery I had my blood work done and even a pregnancy test, go figure since my tubes had been tied 5 years ago. I did not have to do the bowel prep either, was very glad of that. I guess all Dr.'s are different in thier procedures. Hope everything works out great for you. Take care.

Anyone else not have a pre-op?

It sounds like you did a small pre op at the dr visit. Maybe if the dr requires anything else, it'll be done the day of surgery. I've read from some that that's been done.

If you have concerns or questions, I suggest a call to the dr about them.

Best wishes.

Anyone else not have a pre-op?

I didn't actually have a "pre-op" appointment either. My Dr's office called me a week before my surgery with all of my instructions , and the hospital called me to make an appointment for blood work and consultations which were scheduled for the day before my surgery.

I think each dr has their own way of doing things. There isn't anything wrong with calling and asking to see him/her again before your surgery if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Best Wishes,

Kay
