Back from the castle

Hi, Ladies In Waiting.....

I made it - I was scared to death, but I made it! I have been home since Friday (surgery on Tuesday for hysterctomy due to varicose veins- my scar is about 5 inches. They found a cyst the size of a large golf ball on my left ovary. Everything is gone except my cervix. It hurts to move - the hospital stunk - be insistent about getting your pain meds, ladies - those nurses are so busy......my bladder is bugging me - i think it is from the catheter. Overall, it is doable - I wouldn't rush out and do it again (thank God I don't have to....), but it wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. I have alot of help at home, and a great church family who is bringing me yummy meals. They stop tomorrow, darn it! My family is being great about helping me around the house. I am walking a little bit more each day. I will caution you that you will see stuff you want to do, because it is there, but don't do it! I am getting bored, but I know that I need to rest and keep my feet up. All I have needed for pain is Darvocet. It isn't too bad at all.

It's not a walk in the park, but you CAN do it! Don't worry - like everyone else who has done it says, the worst part IS the waiting!

Thanks to all the great ladies on this board who encouraged me. Now, I will move to the post-op board - whoo, hoo!!!

Love, Lise' :-)

Welcome Home Lise'. Thank you for posting your story. It is always encouraging to see positive stories

Now that you're home, be a good and rest, rest, rest. Walk for recovery and drink plenty of water and juices. When you're done, rest some more.
