Really irritated with my boss (venting)

So I'm going to to work next wed. And I was just informed that I have to work a 9 hr shift on Sunday. (Usually I work Mon thru fri have the weekend off) but my first week back I'm working three days on one day off then back on for 6 days.... talked to my boss and he said the schedule is already out and he won't change it grrr. I don't have a physical job but I'm just afraid I'm going to put my body in shock by working that much. So unless I can find someone to help me with my shift I'm screwed. Sorry just venting.

Re: Really irritated with my boss (venting)

I worked only 4 hours the first day because I couldn't sit or stand the whole day. I pray you are okay.

Re: Really irritated with my boss (venting)

I would think a doctors statement directing the amount of hours and type of work you are allowed to do would suffice. I went back to work after my last surgery and didn't do well, we cut my hours back for a couple weeks. I think an employer would have to honor it, probably not worth the HR mess if they didn't.

Re: Really irritated with my boss (venting)

So FMLA doesn't apply? Do you have short term disability? If the doctor says that you shouldn't work more than xxhours/day, I would think that even a small business would want to comply with a doctor's note in order to not have you go back out again for awhile. How long have you worked there? Hopefully they will want to work with you on your return to work.

For me, I am taking a full 6 weeks off, as I know that when I go back to work, I will be doing 10--12 hours a day anyway (exempt position, and very busy time of year when I return, plus a new boss). My co-workers would not have a problem with me leaving early if I need to, but I don't know about the new boss, so not going to test that.

Do be sure to get lots of rest before you return to work, and talk to you boss if you get overly tired and sore. You don't want to have a set-back, and need to take care of you. Hope it goes well!
