TVH with Bladder, Vaginal and Rectal Tack

I'm scheduled for surgery June 17th, 2008. I'm 45 with stress incontinence. They are removing my prolapsed uterus and tacking my prolapsed bladder as well as my rectal wall and vaginal wall. Thanks to large baby #1 and 3 hours of pushing. So much for natural childbirth. I have the choice of keeping or taking my ovaries. I have chosen to keep them due the continued production of hormones and such, if they continue to work. I've read a lot about there is a chance they will shut down.

Doc told me at pre-op no lifting anything for 6 weeks and nothing over 30 lbs for the rest of my life. WHAT??? That's not happening. I can't imagine NOT picking up my niece or my future grandchildren. I will do everything she says for 6 weeks though.

Please try to listen to your dr about the lifting restrictions, I'd hate for you to risk undoing all the repair work. Maybe instead to picking up your nieces, you could have them sit and snuggle next to you or have someone else lift them onto your lap?
